As we follow the gentle course of the Tuul River, the landscape gradually transforms—broad valleys give way to tranquil pine forests, where the silence is broken only by birdsong and the soft rustle of wildlife. Listen for the rhythmic tapping of woodpeckers and keep an eye on the sky for majestic Golden Eagle soaring high above. By late afternoon, we reach the peaceful meeting point of the Tuul River and Khagiin River, where we set up camp beneath the forest canopy. Here, deep in nature, the outside world slowly fades away, replaced by the quiet beauty of Mongolia’s wilderness.

Leaving the Tuul Valley behind, the trail leads us deeper into the endless taiga—the natural realm of the majestic Moose. With attentive eyes and a bit of luck, you may notice signs of their presence: a split hoofprint in the soft earth or tree bark polished smooth by powerful antlers. As the day unfolds, you’ll begin to read the forest like a true tracker. All around, the landscape reveals its raw beauty—wild, pristine, and wonderfully unforgettable.

After breakfast, we follow the winding valley of the Khongoryn River, trekking along its gentle course for several hours. At the right crossing, we ford the stream and continue deeper into the wilderness. The trail leads into a magnificent forested range, where birch, pine, and ancient cedar trees rise like quiet guardians of the land.

From here, we begin a more demanding climb and descend across Khaviragiin Pass, located on the eastern shoulder of Altan Olgii—poetically known as the “Golden Cradle.” At 2,646 meters, it stands among the highest peaks of the Khentii Mountains. By evening, we set up camp in the quiet forest beside a sparkling mountain stream, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature.
